Description

The possibility of determining the content of twenty microelements found in tobacco by neutron-activation analysis after removal of 24Na and 42K is investigated and a method for carrying this out is proposed. Solutions of activated tobacco are treated by the ''batch'' procedure with HAP and Chelex-100 and Sm, Eu, Cu, As and Mn are determined after a 4 h activation simultaneously and Ca, Ba, Au, La, Sb, Br, Rb, Cr, Sr, Zr, Cs, Sc, Fe, Zn and Co after an 18 h activation. Good precision of analysis, repeatability and sensitivity was obtained. Information is given about the content of Sm, Eu, Cu, Sb, Au, As and Zr, whose determination by instrumental neutron activation analysis is impossible. (Author)
