Alignment of the ATLAS Inner Detector Tracking System - Solving the Problem

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics PAN, ul. Radzikowskiego 152, Krakow 31-342 (Poland)

Description

Tracking of charged particles in ATLAS is realised by the Inner Detector. In order to exploit the full physics potential of the precision tracking devices a high quality alignment is necessary. In this report the strategy to align silicon detectors of the Inner Detector will be briefly reviewed with the special emphasis on removal of systematic distortions. First results from the cosmic ray alignment will be presented, too.
