Molar magnetic susceptibility measurements of paramagnetic compounds, in solution, with optimized Gouy system
Description
Gouy's method, in spite of being an old one, is still largely used in measuring magnetic susceptibilities. It is simple and precise when one has large amounts of solutions or samples. However, the necessity of improving the measurements of magnetic properties led to the development of other methods. It is shown that, utilizing a series of solutions of a single paramagnetic compound, with diferent molarities, it is possible to optimize Gouy's method, obtaining results with a precision comparable to those exhibited by more recent procedures

O metodo de Gouy, embora antigo, continua a ser largamente usado nos trabalhos experimentais de medidas de suscetibilidade magnetica. Quando se trabalha com solucoes ou amostras em grandes quantidades, o metodo apresenta simplicidade e precisao. Nao obstante, a necessidade de maior precisao na determinacao das propriedades magneticas levou ao desenvolvimento de outros metodos. No entanto, mostra-se que utilizando uma serie de solucoes de um mesmo composto paramagnetico, com molaridades diferentes, e possivel otimizar o metodo de Gouy, e obter-se resultados de precisao comparavel com metodos mais recentesAdditional details
