Fluoroscopic quality control
Description
Data on the quality control of 50 fluoroscopic devices are discussed. The testing methods of automatic brightness systems of the Image Intensifier are outlined. Typical function charts of such systems are presented: 1) Variation of the patient entrance skin dose rate (PESDR) vs object dimension (the most frequent PESDR is 25-80 Gy/min at 70 cm distance from the focal spot and upon patient simulation by perspex blocks 55 to 165 mm thick); 2) Variation of the exposure rate at the front of the Image Intensifier vs object dimension (1 to 30 μGy/s upon patient simulation by perspex blocks 58 to 165 mm thick). At X-rays attenuated with 1 mm copper plate and fluoroscopy with 80 kV/1 mA, the mean exposure dose rate at the front of the Image Intensifier at 90 cm distance from the focal spot varies between 0.7 and 1.4 μGy/s (5-10 mR/min). 2 figs., 11 refs.
