Magnetic properties and resonance study of Gd(Co/sub x/Al/sub 1-x/)3 compounds
Description
Gd(Co/sub x/Al/sub 1-x/)3 compounds with x >= 0.2 are ferrimagnetic. The mean cobalt moments decrease as the aluminium content is larger. The reciprocal susceptibility for ferrimagnetic compounds follows a hyperbolic law of Neel type. The electron paramagnetic resonance measurements on GdAl3 show that g = 1.959 and the slope of the linewidth is DH/T = 2.8 G/K. For ferrimagnetic compounds the g and DH/T values are temperature dependent. The data are analysed in a model which uses the two-sublattices molecular field approximation. Finally, the magnetic behaviour of cobalt atoms in Gd(Co/sub x/Al/sub 1-x/)3 compounds is analysed. (author)
