Reduction of stopping medium dependence for DSA lifetime measurements

  • 1. Queen's Univ., Kingston, Ontario (Canada). Dept. of Physics

Description

A modification to the Lindhard electronic stopping power formula is proposed which uses the deviation of atom sizes from a characteristic Thomas-Fermi size as a scaling factor. This modification reduces the dependence of DSA lifetime measurements on stopping medium; chi2 for the 3.34 MeV level in 22Ne is reduced from 8.1 to 1.4. (Auth.)
