Interaction of DNA with indolylalkylamine radioprotective compounds

  • 1. Institute of Biophysics, Ministry of Public Health of the USSR, Moscow

Description

In the creation of radioprotective preparations, the problem of decreasing the toxicity is critical. Within the scope of this problem, the authors began to study the possibility of modifying the biological properties of the radioprotectant compounds serotonin and 4,5-benztryptamine by means of their complex formation with DNA. The authors examine the degree of relationship between effects in irradiated mice and the ability of serotonin, 4,5-, 6-7-, and 5,6-benztryptamines to interact with DNA. The interaction of a given compound with DNA and the strength of the complex which is formed were also evaluated
