Energy dissipation mechanisms and multifragmentation in light-ion reactions
Description
Multifragmentation emission data from the 3He + Ag reaction are examined in the context of an intranuclear cascade code followed by an expanding, emitting source calculation. The role of Δ excitations in the energy dissipation process is stressed. In addition, the importance of employing a distribution of excitation energies in such analyses is pointed out. In order to describe the data within the context of this hybrid model, excitation via Δ resonance formation and expansion with a soft equation of state (K = 144) are required
