Mean charge of ions (5< or =Z1< or =25) emerging from aluminum foils

Description
We have determined the mean charge q-bar for projectiles 5< or =Z1< or =25 exiting thin Al foils at a velocity v = v0. The results are compared with previous data for the same projectiles exiting thin C foils. In the region Z1approx.15, the differences q-bar(C)-q-bar(Al) are observed to be as large as solid-gas differences
