Assessing the project to stop 24 nuclear reactors out of 58 by 2025 and to reduce from 75 to 50% the share of nuclear electricity production

The author proposes an assessment of the agreement between the French socialist and ecologist parties which specifies the closing down of 24 nuclear reactors by 2025, the stopping of spent fuel processing and of the MOX process, and other objectives regarding energy efficiency and the development of renewable energies. The author takes lifetime into account for the different concerned reactors. He discusses the impact of the loss of production on the nuclear production turnover, the impact on exports, the mobilisation of investments in renewable energies, the impact on the balance of payments, and on the electricity price.
