Post-tussive tomography - a useful supplement of tracheobronchial examinations

Description
Four cases of pseudotumours of the trachea caused by mucous plugs are reported. These space-occupying structures may be accidentally discovered during tomography of the mediastinum. Prompt repetition of the X-ray examination, after provocation of a bout of coughing, will prove the instability of the ''tumours'' and thus obviate bronchoscopy. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Es werden vier Patienten mit Schleimpfropfpseudotumoren der Luftroehre vorgestellt. Diese Raumforderungen koennen als Zufallsbefund, waehrend einer Schichtbilduntersuchung des Mediastinums, entdeckt werden. Eine umgehende Wiederholung des Tomogramms, nach einem provozierten Hustenanfall, kann die Inkonstanz des Pseudotumors beweisen und somit eine Bronchoskopie vermeiden. (orig.)Additional details
