Results of combined treatment with chemotherapy followd by teleradiotherapy with gamma rays in microcellular bronchial carcinoma. Pt. 2

The results of two years of follow-up of 20 patients receiving combined treatment for microcellular bronchial carcinoma are reported. Two-stage treatment was used: stage 1 - multiple drug chemotherapy (vincristine, methotrexate, cyclophosphamide, procarbazine), stage 2 - radiotherapy with Co60 at a dose of 50 Gy/t. One-year survival (75%) and two-year survival (53.8%) rates point out a superiority of multiple-drug chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy over treatment with one drug followed by radiotherapy. These results were significantly better than those obtained by Co60 radiotherapy alone. (author)
