The electric and magnetic properties of the series RMonSn+1 (R=Sm, Yb)
Description
Full text: The RMon Sn+1 (R=Sm, Yb; n=3-6), Sm0.5 Pb0.5 Mo6 S7 and Pb0.46 Bi0.46 Mo6 S7.5 have been prepared. The crystal structures have been investigated by X-ray diffraction method. Their electric properties and magnetic susceptibilities have been measured. The results of X-ray diffraction indicated that their structures are trigonal (rhombohedral). Their electric resistivities are in the range of 10-2 - 10-3 emu/mol at room temperature, the resistivities of SmMon Sn+1 are greater than that of YbMon Sn+1 . The magnetic susceptibilities are in the range of 10-3 -10-4 emu/mol at room temperature, the susceptibilities of SmMonSn+1 are smaller than that of YbMon Sn+1 . The results of susceptibilities at low temperature indicate that the susceptibilities of YbMo5 S6 , Sm0.5 Pb0.5 Mo6 S7 and Pb0.46 Bi0.46 Mo6 S7.5 fall sharply at ∼10 K. It indicates there are superconductive phases in the above three compounds
