Role of microdensitometry in quantitative evaluation of radiographs [Paper VIII-c]

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Radiometallurgy Div.

Description

Information recorded on a radiograph is often not discernible to the human eye. Quantitative information can be extracted from the radiographs using microdensitometry. A few examples highlighting the role played by microdensitometer in the evaluation of radiographs are presented in this paper. Microdensitometry has been effectively used in quantitative evaluation of (i) weld radiographs, (ii) neutron radiographs, (iii) gamma autoradiographs and (iv) resolution and sensitivity studies in radiographs.
