Photoproduction of π0 mesons on nuclei at low angles near Δ33 resonance

Description

In this paper data are presented on measured inclusive differential cross sections of photoproduction of πo mesons on the nuclei 6Li, 12C, 27Al, Cu, Cd(Cu and Cd - natural mixture of isotopes) in the energy range ≅300-500 MeV and for meson exit angle ∼10 degrees in the center of mass system. These data are used, assuming that the cross section on a nucleus with mass number A(dσ/dΩA) is related to the cross section on hydrogen (dσ/dΩH) by the equation dσ/dΩA = dσ/dΩHAα, to produce data on the variation of exponent α as a function of energy. It is shown that exponent α changes significantly with consideration of differences in the measured points of the form factors of nuclei and meson exit angles. Furthermore, the work presents the characteristics of the Gamma installation used to perform measurements and estimates of the partial cross section of π0 meson photoproduction on the nucleus 6Li with excitation of the 3.58 MeV level, averaged in the range of γ-quantum energy is ∼260-370 MeV and meson exit angles ∼0-20 degrees
