Standardization of X-ray examination of the stomach

The authors stated their view-point on the problem of standardization in gastroroentgenology basing on examination of 5000 patients in common x-ray rooms and over 16000 patients in specialized gastrofluorography rooms. They have proposed standardized methods of examination (based on a double contrast study and tight filling) intended both for gastrofluorography and routine gastroroentgenography. The authors has emphasized a special role of standardization in gastroroengenology for improving stomach cancer diagnosis by means of mass screenings of persons at high risk of cancer development. The introduction of the principles of standardization into gastroroentgenology will permit the most effective use of the entire array of present-day x-ray methods in the detection of cancer and other diseases of the stomach
