Description
Characteristic 5.5 MeV gamma rays from the reaction D(p, γ)3He have been detected during neutral beam heated discharges at Doublet-III. The observed rate is in agreement with a production model based on beam-plasma interactions. Applications of this diagnostic for tokamak and mirror experiments are discussed. (orig.)
