Application of electron-beam irradiation to the decomposition of nitrogen-containing substances in sewage

Description
The dependence of decomposition degree of aqueous solutions of ammonia and 1,1'-dimethylhydrazine under the electron-beam (Ee = 0.8-1.2 MeV) irradiation on the radiation dose (2-30 Mrad), the concentration of hydrogen peroxide and initial substances is studied to develop a method for sewage treatment from nitrogen-containing compounds. It is demonstrated that radiation treatment of the above solutions in the presence of a two-fold excess of hydrogen peroxide permits oxidation to elementary nitrogen of 90-95 % ammonia and 70-75 % 1,1'-dimethylhydrazine
Abstract (Russian)
С целью разработки способа очистки сточных вод от азотсодержащих соединений исследована зависимость степени расхождения водных растворов аммиака и 1,1'-диметилгидразина под действием электронного пучка (Еe 0,8-1,2 МэВ), от дозы облучения (2-30 Мрад), концентрации пероксида водорода и исходных веществ. Показано, что радиационная обработка указанных растворов в присутствии двукратного избытка пероксида водорода позволяет окислить до элементарного азота 90-95 % аммиака и 70-75 % 1,1'-диметилгидразинаAdditional details
