On the ionic equilibrium between complexes in molten fluoroaluminates
Description
We discuss theoretically (i) the effect of the alkali cation species on the ionic equilibrium between (AlF6)3- and (AlF4)- complexes in molten alkali fluoroaluminates, and (ii) the possible presence of (AlF5)2 - complexes in molten cryolite, in relation to very recent Raman scattering experiments by Gilbert and Materne.
