Cs-137 in marine organisms

Description

High concentrations of Cs-137 were detected in walleye pollack in our monitoring program. High concentrations of Cs-137 were only detected in walleye pollack, not other organisms in our monitoring program. The walleye pollack migration area in the Japan Sea is larger than that of other species investigated in our monitoring program, covering the Russian, South Korean, or North Korean coasts in the Japan Sea. Their characteristic migration area and the results from our monitoring program suggested that the nuclear pollution source, which were detected in walleye pollack, was not along the Japanese coast.
