Influence of grain boundary shape on structural steel creep

  • 1. AN SSSR, Sverdlovsk. Inst. Fiziki Metallov

Description

Results of comparative tests for creep, conducted on polycrystalline samples with different grain size and grain shape as well as in cast orientedly crystallized samples with columnar structure for 37KhN3MFA and 15Kh1M1FA structural steels, are considered. It is shown, that cast orientedly crystallized samples are characterized by the highest heat resistance which is the higher, the higher the test temperature is. Long-term strength is controlled by a intergranular defect accumulation mechanism and is different under formation of V-shaped cracks and grain voids
