Pressure-induced structural phase transition in Ti1-xZrxC solid solution
Description
In the last few years the refractory metal compounds have been of great interest for various industries due to their unique characteristics. These compound shows covalent metallic as well as ionic type bonding. The transition metal monocarbides shows covalent, metallic as well as ionic type bonding. The transition metal monocarbide shows strong covalency because in transition-metal 'interstitial' carbides makes strong metal-to-carbon bonds. Therefore especially carbides shows unique properties asultra hard in nature and are of great importance. Due to the importance of these super-hard carbide materials especially under extreme conditions of temperature and pressure, we thought it pertinent to explore the possibility of investigating the Ti1-xZrx,C solid solution under high pressure conditions
