Overtone of the giant E1 resonance

  • 1. State University, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (Russian Federation)

Description

Basic properties of an overtone of the giant E1 resonance are analyzed within a semimicroscopic approach that is based on the random-phase approximation, where a single-particle continuum is taken into account exactly, and on a phenomenological description of the spreading effect. The results obtained for the 208Pb nucleus are contrasted against the properties of the main tone
