Description

In these observations on the nuclear power station in France the shortage of domestic energy resources and the nation's emphasis on independence of energy supply are explained to be the reasons of the development of its vast nuclear power programme. The roles of the government and CEA in the programme implementation are described. The involvement of industry and the influence of public opinion are discussed. A brief account is given of the French nuclear generation. The positive social impact of nuclear generation in France is mentioned
