The effect of the methods of measurement on the interpretation of renal clearance studies
Description
The concept of renal clearance measured during steady-state conditions includes the effect of filtration and secretion as well as urine flow. On the other hand, renal clearance, as used in nuclear medicine, only describes the effect of filtration and secretion. A way for determining steady-state renal clearance with a bolus injection technique is described. Steady-state renal clearance reflects the efficiency of filtration and secretion, urine flow, and the steady-state chemical potentials in the kidneys. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Das Ergebnis einer stationaeren Nierenclearancemessung (Durchsatz-Clearance) haengt sowohl von der Filtrations- und Sekretionsleistung der Nieren als auch von deren Harnabflussverhaeltnissen ab. Die bisherige nuklearmedizinische Clearane (Plasma-Verschwinde-Clearance) spiegelt nur die Filtrations- und Sekretionstaetigkeit der Nieren wider. Es wird gezeigt, wie man mit der nuklearmedizinischen Bolusinjektionstechnik die stationaere Durchsatz-Clearance bestimmen kann. Der so ermittelte Funktionsparameter schliesst den Harnabfluss und die stationaeren chemischen Potentiale innerhalb der Nieren, wie sie unter physiologischen Bedingungen vorliegen, in die Betrachtung ein.
