Solvent extraction of some fission products using tetracycline as a complexing agent : dependence on the ph of the aqueous phase and on the nature of some inorganic anions
Description
The behavior of tetracycline as a complexing agent in solvent extraction studies is presented. The extraction curves for the fission products 90Sr, 140Ba, 99Mo, sup(99m)Tc, 95Zr, 95Nb, 103Ru and also for U have been determined for the extraction system tetracycline-benzyl alcohol. The extraction dependence on the pH of the aqueous phase as well as on the kind of electrolyte present was examined. As a practical application, the possiblity of using the tetracycline-benzyl alcohol system for separation of the fission products present in a mixture of them, as well as for the separation of uranium from those elements, was tested. Foi feito o estudo do comportamento da tetraciclina como agente extraente dos produtos de fissao 90Sr, 140Ba, 99Mo, sup(99m)Tc, 95Zr, 95Nb, 103Ru e 137Cs presentes numa solucao obtida pelo dissolucao do oxido de uranio irradiado. Para cada um dos produtos de fissao considerados, e para o uranio, foi determinada a variacao da porcentagem de extracao dos elementos em funcao da variacao do pH da fase aquosa e da presenca de eletrolitos na solucao. Foram examinadas tambem as possibilidades que a tetraciclina, como agente extraente, apresenta para a separacao dos produtos de fissao entre si e para a separacao do uranio dos produtos de fissao.
