The relationship between the relation dose and the incidence of chromosomal aberrations from radiation substances

  • 1. Kobe Univ. (Japan). School of Medicine

Description

A relationship between the exposure dose and the incidence of chromosome aberrations was investigated in 6 employees who worked at NRX type atomic reactors and 6 employees who managed NRU type atomic reactors. Yearly mean exposure doses were over 2.0 Rem in 4 of 6 employees managing NRX type and 2 of 6 managing NRU type. Aberrations in both chromosomal number and position were found in 5 of 6 employees exposed to over 2.0 Rem of yearly mean exposure doses. Yearly mean exposure doses of 2 of 6 employees managing NRC type and 4 of 6 managing NRU type were less than 2.0 Rem. The incidence of their chromosome aberrations was within the normal range.
