Neutron activation analysis with a 5 Ci Am-Be neutron source
Description
A new 5 Ci (185 GBq) Am-Be neutron source have been installed in CERT (Zaire, Nigeria) for neutron activation analysis to determine the Mn content on manganese ores and AL content in bauxite. Special method was elaborated to determine the Al/Si mass ratio in aluminosilicates due to the high ratio of fast neutrons in the radiation channel. The paper deals with the details of the calibration process. (TRA)
