Effect of heat exchange nonstationary on the actuation time of cryogenic current limiter

Description
Time necessary for thermal switch actuation, its operation being based on superconductor transition to a resistive state under the thermal pulse effect is determined by means of calculations. Investigation method consists in numerical calculations of systems of ordinary differential equations, describing thermal conductivity in a multilayer screen and heat exchange with helium. It is shown that when evaluating the thermal switch fast-response it is necessary to take account of features of unsteady heat exchange with helium in the millisecond range
