Treatment results of lung cancer by radiotherapy

From Jan. 1982 to Dec. 1984, 127 patients with lung cancer, mostly stage III and IV, were treated with radiotherapy at Department of Radiology, Nagoya City University Hospital, and those with non-small cell lung cancer were analyzed. 50 % survival time of stage III was seven months, which was apparently shorter than those results previously reported. In stage IV, 50 % survival time was three months, which was almost the same as that of untreated cases. Differences of the survival curves were not detected between the two groups : one group received irradiation to the primary lesion (with or without bronchial arterial infusion), and the other to the distant metastases alone.
