Consequences of Fukushima accident: report from WHO and

The preliminary report from the WHO (World Health Organization) gives some estimations of the radiation dose received by the Japanese population during the Fukushima accident: about 140.000 people living in the area around the plant were exposed to radiations but for most of them the dose was below 10 mSv. Nevertheless the radiation doses received in several areas around the plant could jeopardize humane health. The preliminary report from the UNSCEAR focuses on the radiation doses received by the public. According to this report, 167 people have received a dose over 100 mSv (cancers begin to appear above this threshold) and 6 workers have received a dose over 250 mSv.
