Jahn-Teller effect in the α-cluster model for 12C

Description
It is shown by a group theory analysis that the most symmetrical configuration of the α-cluster model for 12C presents an instability against non-asymmetrical deformations characterized by the normal coordinates of the point symmetry group of the α-structure. (Auth.)
