CT diagnosis of primary retroperitoneal tumor

Description
Objective: To study the CT diagnosis of primary retroperitoneal tumor. Methods: CT findings of 36 cases of primary retroperitoneal tumor proved by pathology were investigated. Contrast enhanced CT scan were performed in 32 cases. Results: The tumor was located in the left compartment of retroperitoneal cavity in 14 case, right in 16 cases, bilateral in 6 cases, including 11 cases of liposarcoma, 5 cases of leiomyoma sarcoma, 7 cases of neuroblastoma, 8 cases of teratoma and 5 cases of cystic lymphangioma. Conclusion: CT scans provides reliable informations of primary retroperitoneal tumor on both location and pathological characteristics. And CT is better to locate the neoplasms than qualify the pathological natures of the tumor
