Reliability characteristics of major NET components

Creators

  • 1. The NET Team, c/o Max-Planck-Institut fur Plasmaphysik, D-8046 Garching bei Munchen

Description

A first assessment of the failure rates and mean down times of the various NET components shows that the objective of demonstrating a 25% plant availability over 1 year is realistic. More detailed analyses of cooling cycles, first wall and blanket, toroidal field coils system and plasma heating systems confirm this statement. Furthermore, in these analyses measures for reducing the failure rate are identified to meet the target of uninterrupted operating times of up to 10 days
