Application of CT perfusion in acute brain infarction of anterior-circulation

Description

Objective: To investigate the guide effect of CT perfusion (CTP) for artery thrombolysis in acute brain infarction of anterior-circulation. Methods: The clinical data of 40 patients suffered from acute infarction of internal carotid artery system and treated with artery thrombolysis were retrospectively reviewed. CTP was applied for all the patients be- fore thrombolysis, then arteriography and artery thrombolysis were carried out. CT scan was repeated after operation in or- der to definite the ischemic center, ischemic penumbra and peri-ischemic area. Then these parameters were analyzed statistically. Results: There exists incompatibility of parameters to images in these cases, with MTT and CBV at the most obvious and CBF and CBV at the second. In the ischemic center area, CBV and CBF were (2.14±0.59)ml/100g and (19.06±8.00)ml/100g respectively, obviously diminished comparing with opposite brain. MTT was (7.85±1.65)s, with significant difference (P<0.01) comparing with normal control plot. In the ischemic penumbra, CBV and CBF were (3.72±0.75)ml/ 100g and (35.15±6.29)ml/100g respectively, obviously diminished than opposite brain. MTT was (61.11±0.32)s, with significant difference (P<0.01) comparing with normal control plot. Conclusion: CTP could rapidly and accurately show the location and range of ischemic penumbra. Incompatibility of the parameter to imaging could be used in selection of the patients taken artery thrombolysis therapy. (authors)
