Fate of the insecticide 'carbofuran' and its residues in stored grains grains and their toxicological significance in experimental animals
Description
the fate of the insecticide carbofuran and its residues in stored wheat and their toxicological significance in experimental animals were investigated. the studies carried out included treatment of wheat grains with labelled 14C- carbofuran and storing them for several months, followed by feeding rats with the bound residues for the study of their bioavailability . in a parallel experiment, non labelled carbofuran was applied to wheat grains and stored at the same previous conditions in order to assess its toxicity. this was accomplished by feeding male mice for 90 days (sub chronic study) on carbofuran incorporated in grains to monitor any possible changes that might have been altered in the animals during that period
