Isotope separation process

Description

A method for laser isotope separation is described. In an example, the isotopes of uranium are separated utilizing a CO2 laser, and a uranyl compound having the formula UO2A2.L, where A is a monovalent anion and L is a neutral ligand having a basicity towards the uranyl ion stronger than that of tetrahydrofuran. Anion A is preferably 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoracetylacetonate and L is preferably trimethylphosphate. (U.K.)
