Description
Poly-1-butene is easily obtainable in three different crystalline modifications. The transition between two of them takes place in solid state at room temperature at measurable rate. Therefore, this system offers a unique possibility to study the radiation effects on different crystalline modifications of the same material. In this work the gel formation induced by radiation in the thermodynamically stable modification I was studied. This is accompanied by the molecular weight distribution measurements at sub-gel doses. Results are given which show the influence of radiation on the kinetics of solid state crystal transformation. (author)
