Description
This paper reports on the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory that employs 1000 tonnes of D2O as a Cherenkov detector to observe both the charged and neutral current interactions of solar neutrinos. The expected rates are an order of magnitude higher than present solar neutrino experiments. Spectral information will allow a sensitive test for matter oscillations of neutrinos originating in the sun. This experiment is now funded and anticipates data acquisition will commence in mid-1995
