The system for scanning of heavy ion beam

Description

A system for scanning of ion beams extracted from a cyclotron has been worked up. It consists of two deflecting dipole magnets creating horizontal and vertical magnetic fields. Generators of saw-tooth current having the definitely fixed frequencies supply the magnets. As a result of synchronous work of both generators the center of mass of the ion beam 'draws' a pattern on the target. Heterogeneity of the particle density distribution does not exceed the required value of ±5%. The short description of the deflection magnets construction, their parameters, and results of their stand tests are presented
