Super-cavitating wings with a 'wetted' suction side in a plane flow

Description

The aim of this study is to develop a method of calculation to restore, for various operating conditions, the characteristics of a super-cavitating wing profile with a wetted (and truncated rear part) suction side. The paper starts with a theoretical part where the method of calculation is described, beginning with an examination of the main previous studies followed by a presentation of the principles that allow for the complete formulation of the problem, and then the calculations. Some analytical developments have been placed in the appendix, as well as the details of some methods which make it possible to remove the numerical difficulties. The studied profile is of a rounded leading edge and the extrados (suction side) has a length different from that of the intrados (front side); such a free parameter allows to set the detachment point of the upper cavity. The description of the profile is given in Chapter II. The second part is an experimental one where the test configuration is briefly described; some experimental results are presented and the results are compared with the theory
