Description

The effects of impurity (on-center and off-center) on electronic and linear and nonlinear optical properties (i.e. absorption coefficients and refractive index changes) are investigated in a cubic quantum dot in the presence of an electric field. The energy levels and wave functions are calculated using a variational method within an effective mass approximation. The results show that the existence of impurity, confinement, electric field, and position of impurity have a great effect on the optical characteristics of the system. (paper)
