Description
A direct and sensitive method is the study of the photoelectron diffraction in which the modulations of the photoemitted current, due to interferences between the direct and scattered beams of electrons propagating towards the analyser, are investigated as a function of kinetic energy and emergence angle. Actually, in the energy range corresponding to the maximum surface sensitivity (kinetic energy <sub(approximately) 100 eV), although it was admitted so far that multiple scattering calculations were necessary, we show here, in the case of W(001), that the experimental angular anisotropy of the 4f 7/2 core level emission is well reproduced by a single scattering calculation
