Description
New groundwater dating method by combination of 36Cl half-life and accumulated He concentration was developed. On the basis of correlation between 36Cl and He, the accumulate velocity of He during 36Cl half-life was determined, and the groundwater date was estimated by the accumulated He concentration. The oldest groundwater date of the Great Artesian Basin, Australia, is 300,000 years at near Walgett. The youngest date is 20.000 years at Coonamble Embayment. The results are agreed with the distribution of concentration of 36Cl/Cl ratio and 14C in the groundwater at the Great Artesian Basin. The principle of groundwater dating method, measurements of groundwater at the Great Artesian Basin, Australia, characteristics of groundwater quality, sampling method, dissolved He concentration are reported.
