Feasibility study on the application of Silicide 4.8 g U/cc to RSG-GAS core

  • 1. Center for Development of Research Reactor Technology (Indonesia)

Description

Having been the usage of silicide 2.96 g U/cc in the RSG-GAS core and some silicide 3.55 g U/cc researches bad been carried out, study on the Silicide 4.8 g U/cc should be continued. The study was performed for two kinds of silicide densities 4.5 and 4.8 g U/cc, to obtain the optimum operation for an equilibrium core. Burn up fraction is divided into 8 classes with 5/1 re-shuffle pattern. The cell calculation was activated using WIMS/D4 code and the core calculation was estimated using 2-D Batan-EQUIL-2D code. The calculation results showed that both kinds of silicide densities could not be applied for the actual RSG-GAS core with the recent composition and configuration, because they are not met with safety criteria defined, except there is a safety rod to be inserted
