Angular correlation method for measurement of characteristics of heavy ion reaction products
Description
The angular correlation method for the measurement of kinetic energies of nuclear reaction products by means of two surface-barrier detectors in a fast-slow coincidence scheme is described. The diagrams of electronics and of the computer program for processing two dimensional energy spectra are given. A method of calibrating the Si(Au) detectors based on heavy ion scattering on thin targets is also described. Experimental results are presented for the energy spectra of products from the 40Ar + 208Pb reaction at 222 MeV. The mass distribution of reaction products and the average value of the total kinetic energy of fission fragments from a 248Fm compound nucleus are obtained
