Transient Temperature Field Analysis in the Nuclear Fuel Waste Repository
Description
A computer program TEMPROC based on the analytical solutions of the heat equation in a homogeneous medium has been developed. Thermal analysis calculations were performed for a nuclear fuel waste repository in order to investigate the temperature distributions in the disposal containers, around the disposal containers and surrounding rock and to evaluate the effect of some parameters on transient temperature field. These preliminary results were compared with a finite-element method analysis, and reasonable agreement was found. The TEMPROC program and the effect of some parameters on the transient temperature field generated by radioactive decay of the waste form are presented in this paper. (author).
