Safety margins in the protection of the SNR-300 core
Description
The purpose of this paper is to determine safety margins in different parts of the safety system as far as core protection is concerned. The response of the SNR-300 core to operational failure which cause scram is discussed with the assumption of some additional failures in the safety system. The results of the analysis show considerable safety margins for errors in the setting of trip levels, absence of scram signals, failure of almost all shutdown rods and an excessive delay during the rod insertion phase. These safety margins are of great interest in the context of risk assessment
