How accurately do we know the position of the Coulomb barrier in heavy-ion reactions

Lighter heavy-ion systems allow an unambiguous definition of the (one-dimensional) Coulomb barrier. The classical formula for the fusion cross section may be used safely only for the extraction of barrier heights. Their curvature is determined to the extend to which the exponential tail of the excitation function is measured. Elastic scattering data can be used to extract information about the barrier if they are analysed in terms of an ingoing-wave boundary condition. To explain the experimental data phenomenological nuclear potentials with a single exponential decay length are not flexible enough. Finer details of the interaction potential can be determined. Abstract (German)

Leichtere Schwerionensysteme erlauben eine eindeutige Definition der (eindimensionalen) Coulombschwelle. Der klassische Ausdruck fuer den Fusionswirkungsquerschnitt kann zuverlaessig nur zur Bestimmung der Schwellenamplituden verwendet werden. Die Kruemmung der Schwellen ist in dem Masse bestimmt wie der exponentielle Fluegel der Anregungsfunktion gemessen wird. Elastische Streudaten koennen Information ueber die Schwelle liefern, wenn sie mit einer Randbedingung bezueglich der einkommenden Welle analysiert werden. Zur Erklaerung der experimentellen Daten sind Kernpotentiale mit einer einzigen exponentiellen Zerfallslaenge nicht flexibel genug. Feinere Einzelheiten des Wechselwirkungspotentials koennen bestimmt werden. (orig.)
