A finite element approach to point- and mesh-centered finite difference schemes over rectangular grids

Description

The standard point- and mesh-centred finite difference schemes over rectangular grids can be obtained, as we show, within the finite element framework in its standard and nodal forms using special numerical quadrature formulae. This approach opens the doors to higher order finite difference schemes of both types. (Author)
